10-Minute Ticket Terms of Use

Short journey tickets are available for purchase between 12 February and 15 May 2025.

We are exploring the demand for short public transport journeys in four postcode areas in spring 2025. We offer strongly authenticated HSL app users who live in the selected postcode areas adult short journey single tickets via the app. To purchase the ticket, the users must consent to the collection of their travel data and allow this data to be linked to their HSL account.

The ticket was introduced on 12 February under the name '10-minute ticket.' On 15 April, the validity period was extended to 20 minutes. In version 6.7.1 of the HSL app and later, the short journey ticket is named ‘20-minute ticket’. However, in older versions of the app, it is still called '10-minute ticket,' even though the tickets are valid for 20 minutes starting from 15 April. These Terms of Use apply to short journey tickets valid for 20 minutes regardless of whether the ticket appears in the HSL app as ‘10-minute ticket’ or ‘20-minute ticket. ’

You need HSL app version 6.6.0 or later.

Postcode areas and ticket prices:

The 20-minute ticket entitles you to a 20-minute journey on HSL buses and trams in the entire HSL area. The ticket is not valid for travel on trains, the Metro, or the Suomenlinna ferry. The ticket is personal, and you cannot buy it for others traveling with you.

The ticket is available via the HSL app. You must buy the ticket in advance and activate it before boarding. You must activate the ticket within 24 hours of the purchase. If you do not activate the ticket within the time limit, it will be automatically activated when the 24-hour time limit is up. If the ticket is activated automatically, it will be valid for 20 minutes, after which it is used up and cannot be reactivated.

On the blue buses, show the ticket to the driver as usual when boarding the bus. On trunk route buses, you do not need to show the ticket when boarding. You must present the ticket to ticket inspectors on all buses and trams upon request.

The ticket must be valid throughout the journey. When the ticket is about to expire, you must exit the vehicle or buy and activate a new ticket before it expires.

When you have purchased and activated a 20-minute ticket, the ticket and its validity are displayed on the HSL app. A timer will appear on the top of the screen, showing the remaining time on the ticket. Depending on the device and its operating system, the timer may also be visible when the device is locked. The timer may show the remaining time with a few seconds difference from the actual validity time of the ticket. You can see the exact time on the HSL app.

In addition to these Terms of Use, HSL Public Transport Conditions of Carriage and Ticket Terms and Conditions and Terms of Use of the HSL App apply to the 10-minute tickets.
