Changes to bus routes in Laajasalo from 14 August 2023
There will be changes to bus routes in Laajasalo at the start of the autumn timetable. Some of the changes to routes and service frequencies are due to increased number of residents in Kruunuvuorenranta, some changes are due to construction work.
The changes will be in place until further notice. There will be more temporary route changes due to construction works over the coming years and we will provide information about them closer to the dates of the changes. The routes outlined in the route network plan for Laajasalo will be rolled out approximately in 2027 when the tram services start.
Changes from 14 August 2023
The routes of buses 84 and 88 will change, a new route 87 will be introduced in Kruunuvuorenranta, the route number of bus 85B will change to 85K and a new route 86K will be introduced.
Changes by route
The route of bus 84 will change. The bus will run to Gunillankuja via Laajasalontie, Reiherintie, Koirasaarentie and Gunillantie. The southern terminus of the bus will move to Gunillankuja. The route change is made due to construction work and street works at the east end of Gunillantie over the coming years.
Following the route change, the “Gunillanpolku” stops will only be served by neighborhood route 802, until bus 87 starts running via Gunillantie when the tram services start. The closest stops are the “Svanströmintie” stops at the south end of Reiherintie about 150 meters away and the “Gunillankuja” stop about 500 meters from the “Gunillanpolku” stops.
Bus 84 will run less frequently than at present: the bus will run every 10 minutes at peak times and every 15 minutes during the daytime and on Saturdays. Buses 87 and 88 running along Koirasaarentie will serve the northern parts of Gunillantie. Their combined headways will be about five minutes at peak times, 7.5 minutes during the daytime and on Saturdays and 10 minutes on Sundays.
Route of bus 84: Herttoniemi Metro Station – Laajasalontie – Reiherintie – Koirasaarentie – Gunillantie – Gunillankuja.

The route number of bus route 85B from Herttoniemi via Yliskylä to Jollas will change. The new route number is 85K. Letter B designates a route that is shorter than the main route version, letter K designates a route that is different from the main route.
The bus will no longer run via the Yliskylä shopping center. It will run from Reposalmentie straight to Laajasalontie.
A new bus route 86K will be introduced. The bus will run between Herttoniemi and Santahamina via Koirasaarentie and Reiherintie late in the evening.
In the future, there will be two routes running from Reiherintie to Herttoniemi, 84 and 86K. Please note that these buses will run from Reiherintie to Herttoniemi in opposite directions, i.e. services from Reiherintie to Herttoniemi will run alternately in the direction of the Jollaksentie junction (bus 84) and in the direction of Koirasaarentie (86K).
Route of bus 86K: Herttoniemi Metro Station – Laajasalontie – Koirasaarentie – Reiherintie – Laajasalontie – Santahaminantie.
A new bus route, 87, will start serving Kruunvuorenranta. Contrary to the route network plan, the bus will run from Laajasalontie straight to Koirasaarentie due to construction work at the south end fo Gunillantie.
The bus will run on all days of the week. The bus is synchronized with bus 88 so that the buses alternate running on their shared section of route between the Herttoniemi Metro Station and Haakoninlahdenpuisto. The combined headways of buses 87 and 88 will be about five minutes at peak times, 7.5 minutes during the daytime and on Saturdays and 10 minutes on Sundays.

The route of bus 88 will change as planned so that the bus will run in Kruunuvuorenranta via Haakoninlahdenkatu, Astridinkatu and Saaristolaivastonkatu in both directions. Route 88B will be withdrawn.
Bus 88 will run less frequently than at present: the bus will run every 15 minutes on Saturdays and every 20 minutes Sundays. The bus is synchronized with the new bus service 87 so that the buses alternate running on their shared section of route between the Herttoniemi Metro Station and Haakoninlahdenpuisto. The combined headways of buses 87 and 88 will be about five minutes at peak times, 7.5 minutes during the daytime and on Saturdays and 10 minutes on Sundays.
Route of bus 88: Herttoniemi Metro Station – Laajasalontie – Koirasaarentie – Haakoninlahdenkatu – Astridinkatu – Saaristolaivankatu – Kaitalahti.

The route of night bus 85N will change as outlined in the route network plan for Laajasalo. The bus will run in Yliskylä straight along Laajasalontie instead of running via Humalniementie, Marunakuja, Ilomäentie and Reposalmentie. In the future, bus 87N will serve this section of route in Yliskylä.
The route of bus 87N will change. The bus will start running via Humalniementie, Marunakuja, Ilomäentie and Reposalmentie, from where it will continue to Koirasaarentie. Contrary to plans, bus 87N will not run via Gunillantie due to construction works along the street. In Kruunuvuorenranta, the bus will run along Haakoninlahdenkatu to Stansvikin rantakatu.
Due to the closure of Kuvernöörintie, buses 85(N) and 86(K, N) will run straight along Laajasalontie instead of via Kuvernöörintie. The change is permanent.
The “Humalniementie” (H4087 and H4088) and “Yliskyläntie” (H4550 and H4597) stops on Kuvernöörintie will be closed. In addition, buses 85(N) and 86(K,N) will no longer serve the “Itäniitynpolku” (H4085 and H4086) stops. These stops will continue to be served by buses 85K, 87N, 89 and 802.
The closest stops are “Itäniitynpolku” (H4085 and H4086), “Yliskylänkaari” (H4117 and H4118) and “Yliskylän keskus” (H4161 and H4942). In addition, neighborhood route 802 serves Yliskyläntie.
