40% discount on season tickets for 70+ passengers

A season ticket allows you to travel as much as you like within the selected travel zones.

You are entitled to the discount if you are 70 years or over and you live in the HSL area.

When you buy an AB ticket for a full year, you will only pay EUR 1.20 per day.

A 30-day season ticket is more economical than single tickets if you make more than seven return journeys a month.

Two ways of buying a season ticket

HSL app

You can buy season tickets at a discounted price using the HSL app on your smartphone. If you have not previously purchased 70+ discount tickets, you should authenticate using your online banking credentials or a mobile certificate when purchasing your ticket to get the discount.

Using a season ticket purchased using the app is easy: you simplyto show your ticket to the driver when you board a bus. On trams, commuter trains, the metro, orange trunk roue buses and on the Suomenlinna ferry, you only need to show your ticket to a ticket inspector upon request.

HSL card

You can buy a season ticket on your HSL card from HSL ticket machines or from sales and service points. If you have not previously purchased 70+ discount tickets, remember to visit a service point to have the discount entitlement added to your HSL card.

Using a season ticket is easy: simply show your HSL card to a card reader. The reader automatically recognizes a valid season ticket.

How to buy a 70+ season ticket

Adding discount entitlement

To buy season tickets at a discounted price, you must add the discount entitlement to your personal HSL card or on the HSL app on your smartphone. Discounts are not available with multi-user HSL cards.

HSL app

Download the HSL app from your phone's app store. Authenticate strongly using your online banking credentials or a mobile certificate. This allows us to verify that you are entitled to the discount for those aged 70 or over.

If you have already strongly authenticated on the app, you can buy 70+ discount tickets when you are logged into the app.

NB! If you have a valid auto-renewing subscription for adults (30 days) or auto-renewing saver subscription, information on your entitlement to the discount for those aged 70 or over is not automatically added to your subscription. In order to get the discount, you first need to cancel your current subscription and then purchase a new season ticket on the HSL app. When buying the ticket, the HSL app automatically recognizes that you are entitled to the discount, because you have already authenticated strongly in connection with your earlier subscription.

You can cancel an auto-renewing subscription (30 days) without a cancellation fee. Depending on which zones your ticket is valid in, you must pay a fee of approximately 40–60 euros to cancel an auto-renewing saver subscription if the subscription has been valid less than 12 months. HSL card

Update the customer group on your HSL card to 70+ if you have not already done this. Your customer group can be updated two weeks before you 70th birthday.

The update can be made at HSL’s service point at the Helsinki Central Railway Station or at municipal service points. The update does not cost anything. Find the nearest HSL or municipal service point

Buying season tickets using the HSL app

You can buy season tickets as one off for 14, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, 180, 210, 240, 270 or 360 days, or you can set up an auto-renewing subscription. If you choose the subscription, your ticket will be valid always and it will be charged automatically to a debit or credit card that you have linked to the app every 30 days.

Authenticate strongly using your online banking credentials or mobile certificate if you have not already done this. This allows us to verify that you are entitled to the discount for those aged 70 or over.

Sales and service points

You can buy a season ticket on your HSL card from HSL ticket machines or from sales and service points. You can add the discount entitlement to your card only at HSL or municipal service points.
