Transport Service Plan 2023-2024

There will be changes to the routes of buses 224 and 531 in the vicinity of Espoon keskus. Bus 224 will start running via Suna and bus 531 via Saarniraivio. The terminus of bus route 531 will move from Jorvi to Espoo station. 

There will be changes to the route and terminus of bus 52 in Otaniemi. The new terminus will be on Tietotie next to the metro station.

Bus routes 104 and 115 will be merged into a new route 105. Bus 105 will run from Lauttasaari following the route of bus 104 to Haukilahti, from where it will continue via Niittykumpu metro station, Olarinluoma and Kokinkyläntie to Mankkaa.

Direct journeys from Kokinkyläntie to Tapiola will be discontinued, but bus 105 will run more frequently than the current bus 115. Bus 105 will run Monday to Friday from morning to early evening every 15 minutes, in the evening and on weekends mainly every 30 minutes.

The route of bus 111 will be shortened. The new route is Otaniemi–Tapiola (M)–Westend–Haukilahti–Matinkylä (M). In Matinkylä, the terminus is at the bus terminal. At the same time, bus route 533 will be extended from Matinkylä to Hyljelahti following the old route of bus 111.

Bus 113 will be rerouted between Laajalahti and Leppävaara. The bus will run along Turveradantie next to the Bredis shopping center. In Leppävaara, the bus will run via Ruusutorppa.

Light rail line 550 will provide crosstown transport links in Laajalahti and Perkkaa, as well as a fast connection to trains and the metro.

The terminus of bus route 114 will move from Tapiola to Matinkylä. The bus will run from the Matinkylä terminal following the route of the withdrawn bus 112 via Haukilahdenranta and Niittykumpu metro station to Merituulentie, from where it will continue via Mankkaa and Kilo to Leppävaara.

The change will improve public transport links in Mankkaa, with services not only to Tapiola but also to Matinkylä. Buses 548 and 549 will continue to run from Mankkaa to Tapiola.

Bus 118 will be rerouted between Tapiola and Suurpelto. From autumn 2023, the bus will run via Urheilupuisto metro station and Orion along Merituulentie, Koivu-Mankkaantie, Orionintie and Mankkaanlaaksontie.

Bus route 202 will be rerouted in the area to the south of Leppävaara as well as in Vallikallio and Lintulaakso. The route will be shortened when the southern terminus is moved from Nuijala to Vermonniitty.

The new route from Vermonniitty to Leppävaara station is: Vermontie–Itsehallintiotie–Säterinkatu–Alberganesplanadi–Leppävaarankatu–Hevosenkenkä.

Bus 113 and the new bus route 206 will serve Friisinmäki and Nuijala. Between Vallikallio and Helmipöllönmäki, the bus will be rerouted via Vallikatu to Lintulaaksontie.

Peak-time and daytime service frequency will be reduced to 30 minutes on bus route 203. Evening and weekend services on route 203 will be discontinued. The services will be reduced because trunk bus 520 will start running temporarily via Painiityntie.

New bus route 206 will start running from Leppävaara via Nuijala to Karamalmi. Some services on route 206 will run via Kilo under route number 206K to provide school transport services.

Bus route 225K will be withdrawn. Bus 206 will run Monday to Friday about 6.30am to 6pm every 30 minutes.

Buses 212 and 213N will be rerouted in Laajalahti and Perkkaa. The buses will run from the Turunväylä Vermonsolmu exit via Tarvaspääntie, Itsehallinnontie, Säterinkatu, Linnoitustie, Kurkijoentie and Kirvuntie to Turvesuontie, from where they will continue along their current routes towards Kauniainen and Espoon keskus.

Bus 522B will run from Leppävaara station via Lintuvaara to Hämevaara. The combined headways of buses 522 and 522B will be about 10 minutes during weekday peak times and about 15 minutes during the daytime and in the evening.

There will be no changes to the weekend service. Bus route 555 will be withdrawn when trunk bus 520 starts operating.

New bus route 523 will start running in August 2023. The bus will run from Westendinasema via Tapiola to Leppävaara. The route is Westendinkatu–Etelätuulentie–Merituulentie–Tapiolantie–Ring I. The bus will run both on weekdays and weekends.

Tram route 9N, which will operate on weekend nights, will replace bus route 23N from August.

We are preparing to reroute buses 37 and 59 in north Malminkartano to run from Malminkartanontie straight along Naapurinpellontie in the northbound direction.

The buses will no longer use the old route from Kartanonmetsäntie via Kaarnatie, Pihkatie and Neulastie because the streets will be turned into residential streets. The exact time of the route change is not yet known.

We are preparing to move the terminus of bus 64 from Lukupolku in Itä-Pakila to the intersection of Yhdyskunnantie and Vanha Tuusulantie once the new stop is completed. The route change will facilitate interchange to buses running along Tuusulanväylä as well as to trunk bus route 560. The exact time of the route change is not yet known.

Night bus 147N will start running via Finnoo metro station along Finnoonsilta and Kaitaantie from August 2023. The bus will no longer run via Hannuksentie. The reason for the change is to streamline the various bus routes in Finnoo and to accommodate the increasing number of residents around the Finnoo metro station.

We will improve transport links from Tikkurila to the Kuusijärivi outdoor recreation area. Bus 712 will run on Saturdays and Sundays every 60 minutes from the start of the summer timetable season until the end of October.

This is a trial service. Bus 736 will continue to run from Tikkurila via Hakunila and Sotunki to Kuusijärvi year round.

Neighborhood routes 801 and 805 will be merged into new route 805 in August. The route will change in Itäkeskus, Puotila and Vartiokylä so that pupils of the Vartiokylä Elementary School can use the bus to get to the temporary school premises in Puotila.

The withdrawn sections of route 801 in Puotila will be served by bus 97V. The route of bus 805 will remain unchanged between Arhotie and Myllypuro.

In Siuntio, the “Avainlinjat” bus services will be procured by HSL from August 2023. Bus 914 will be rerouted so that the turnaround will move from the border of Siuntio and Kirkkonummi to a safer place in Evitskog. The new section of route is Evitskogintie–Kylmäläntien and Karhusuontie junction.

We are preparing for the launch of light rail line 550 in late 2023. The light rail will run from Itäkeskus to Keilaniemi. The service will start operating once there are enough vehicles and drivers.

At first, the service will not be as frequent as planned especially at peak times, but the service frequency will increase as we get more vehicles during the autumn and winter.

We are prepared to continue the operation of bus services under route number 550X. The terminus of the bus will move from Westenasema to Keilaniemi. Bus 523 will provide a fast link between Tapiola and Leppävaara from 14 August.

The terminus of tram 2 will move from Pasila station to Messukeskus.

Tram route 7 will be extended from Pasila to Meilahti. The change will improve transport links, for example, from Mäkelänkatu and Pasila station to the Meilahti hospital area. In Itä-Pasila, the tram will run via Asemapäällikönkatu in both directions.

The route of tram 8 will be extended in Jätkäsaari from Saukonpaasi along Atlantinkatu to Tahitinkatu.

Tram 9 will start running in Itä-Pasila via Asemapäällikönkatu in both directions.

Night tram 9N will start running from Jätkäsaari via the city center and Kallio to Pasila and Ilmala. At the same time, night bus 23N will be withdrawn. Tram 9N will run on Friday and Saturday nights.

The line will start running in the autumn but at first, it will run in Jätkäsaari a one way loop anticlockwise until the Tahitinkatu terminus is completed.
