President of Ukraine visit means exceptional traffic arrangements in Helsinki city centre 19.3.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy and First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska are visiting Helsinki on Wednesday 19.3.2025 at the invitation of President of the Republic Alexander Stubb. A meeting will take place on Wednesday at the Presidential Palace. The visit will mean exceptional traffic arrangements in the centre of Helsinki.

Several motorcades will be moving around the Helsinki metropolitan area on Wednesday, March 19. These motorcades will cause temporary traffic interruptions, particularly in the city center, and occasionally outside of it as well. Disruptions already occurred on Tuesday, March 18, as the motorcades arrived in Helsinki.

The Kauppatori will be closed on Wednesday from approximately 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM. Eteläesplanadi will also be closed to traffic in front of the Kauppatori, and traffic will be redirected via a detour. All traffic to and from Katajanokka will be routed through Aleksanterinkatu.

The traffic arrangements will also temporarily affect public transport during the visit. There will be brief interruptions in bus and tram services.

The ferry service to Suomenlinna will operate from the service ferry pier in Katajanokka.
