There will be changes to bus stop locations in Hakaniemi starting on 3 March and again on 16 June. There will also be route changes for buses in late 2025.
The alighting stop for bus routes that terminate at Hakaniemi will be “Haapaniemi,” next to Väinö Tannerin kenttä. If you want to avoid walking, take the Metro or a bus between Hakaniemi and Sörnäinen. The buses will depart from Merihaka and will also serve the “Näkinkuja” stop on Miina Sillanpään katu.
The stops for buses to/from the Railway Square will be relocated. The stop for buses from the Railway Square will be moved to the east side of Hakaniemi Market Square. Buses towards the Railway Square will stop on the west side of the market square.
Buses operating along Sörnäisten rantatie, i.e., bus route 55 and night buses to East Helsinki, will be rerouted in the direction of the city center from Pitkäsilta Bridge to Hakaniemensilta Bridge. Street work on Siltasaarenkatu also includes replacement of tram tracks
During the work on Siltasaarenkatu, the water and sewer systems and other old utility infrastructure, will be replaced. Additionally, the tram tracks on Siltasaarenkatu between Hakaniementori Market Square and the Pitkäsilta Bridge will be replaced, and new switches will be installed at the intersection of Siltasaarenkatu and Hakaniemenranta. The new switches will enable the new tram link to Laajasalo. Before the new tracks can be put into operation, test runs will be necessary. The work is part of the construction of the Kruunusillat tramway, which will connect Laajasalo, Korkeasaari, and Kalasatama to Hakaniemi in 2027.
HSL plans public transport arrangements together with the tramway constructors. Our goal is to ensure that travel is as smooth as possible during the temporary arrangements. The Journey Planner always provides up-to-date route information.
The changes in Hakaniemi will remain in place until early November. Towards the end of the year, tram routes will also change in Taka-Töölö when the renovation of Mannerheimintie is completed.
