Changes from Monday 17 June

HSL public transport services will switch to summer timetables on 17 June.

  • Tram 1T starts operating every day. Tram 1 will not operate during the summer, meaning that the section of route on Tehtaankatu in Eira will not be served by trams. Trams 3 and 6 serve the nearby area and trunk bus routes 20 and 30 run towards Töölö.
  • Tram 9B will serve its terminus at the West Terminal in Jätkäsaari also on weekdays.
  • There will be changes to all tram timetables. Most trams will run every 12 minutes in the summer.

The next changes to tram services will take place on 12 August when tram 1 resumes operation. In September, new diversion routes will be introduced for trams 2, 3, 4 and 10 due to Mannerheimintie street works. Trams will resume running along Mannerheimintie between Runeberginkatu and Arkadiankatu but not between Runeberginkatu and Reijolankatu.

How to use replacement bus 8X

You can board the replacement bus also through the middle doors, just like the trams. If you have a valid ticket, you do not need to show it to the driver or a card reader. Card readers are only at the front door. At a stop, put your hand out to stop the bus.

Information about the arrangements

The renovation of Mannerheimintie entails replacing the 100-year-old underground utility supplies as well as street surface structures. Pedestrian and cycle paths will be upgraded and new tram tracks will be installed. This summer, works will be carried out at the junction of Mannerheimintie, Runeberginkatu and Helsinginkatu, i.e. at the Opera junction. The second phase of the renovation (between Runeberginkatu and Reijolankatu) will begin in September. The renovation will affect tram and bus services until late 2025.

In summer 2024, repair work will also be undertaken on the Crusellinsilta Bridge connecting Ruoholahti and Jätkäsaari and there will be other minor construction projects. The tram diversions will remain in place until autumn.

HSL is not responsible for the works, but we plan the diversion routes. We have planned the diversion routes with the aim that the works would cause as little disruption to public transport passengers as possible.
