Replacement buses
You can board the buses also through the middle doors. You do not need to show your valid ticket to the driver. You can use the same tickets as for the trains when travelling on a replacement bus, that is, valid tickets of both HSL and VR.
Replacement bus 699X
The bus will depart from bay 20 in Ala-Malmin tori. The bay is located near Malmitalo and the Malmin Nova shopping center. However, we recommend that you change between bus and train at Tapanila station instead of Malmi, as that way the walk will be shorter. In Tapanila, you can access the buses from the covered end of the platform i.e. from the direction of the overpass. Follow the signs in the direction of Päivöläntie. At Kerava station, the buses to Helsinki will depart from bay 12.
The buses will stop at every intermediate station except the Hiekkaharju station. In Hiekkaharju, the buses will stop at the “Malmimäki” bus stops next to Hiekkaharju School on Talvikkitie. From Tikkurila, you can take trunk bus 570, which runs to an area near Valkoisenlähteentie in Jokiniemi, close to Hiekkaharju station. At other stations, the buses will stop at the stops designated for replacement buses. You can check the location of the stops for the replacement buses in the HSL area on the map posters at stations as well as in the Journey Planner. Maps of the stations are also available on the Printable maps and timetables page.

The timetables and stops of bus 969X in the Journey Planner:
NB! On these nights, replacement bus 969X, Järvenpää–Ainola–Järvenpää, will not operate the 0.58am, 2.25am and 3.08am services from Ainola nor the 1.15am, 2.42am and 3.21am services from Järvenpää. Instead, buses 969X and 699X that also run to/from Kerava according to a separate timetable will replace said services.
The changes are part of a larger project
The track works are part of a project to increase the rail capacity between Helsinki and Riihimäki. The aim of the project is to increase the capacity of the busiest section of railway in Finland and to reduce the line’s vulnerability to disruptions. Once the works carried out by the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency are completed, there will be four tracks between Kerava and Riihimäki.
