Replacement buses

You can board the buses also through the middle doors. If you have a valid ticket, you do not need to show your ticket to the driver. You can use the same tickets as for the trains when travelling on a replacement bus, that is, valid HSL and VR tickets.

Replacement bus 699X

The buses will depart from Ala-Malmin tori from bay 20 close to Malmitalo and the Malmin Nova shopping center. However, we recommend that you change between bus and train at Tapanila station instead of Malmi, as the walk is shorter at Tapanila station. In Tapanila, you can access the buses from the covered end of the platform i.e. from the direction of the overpass. Follow the signs in the direction of Päivöläntie. At Kerava station, the buses to Tikkurila and Malmi will depart from bay 12.

The buses will stop at all intermediate stations except Hiekkaharju. In Hiekkaharju, the buses will stop at the “Malmimäki” bus stops next to Hiekkaharju School on Talvikkitie. From Tikkurila, you can take trunk bus 570, which runs goes to Valkoisenlähteentie in Jokiniemi, close to Hiekkaharju station. At other stations, the buses will stop at the stops designated for replacement buses. You can check the locations of the stops for replacement buses n the HSL area on the map posters at stations as well as in the Journey Planner. Maps of stations are also available on the Printable maps page.

The changes are part of a larger project

The track works are part of a project to increase the rail capacity between Helsinki and Riihimäki. The aim of the project is to increase the capacity of the busiest section of railway in Finland and to reduce the line’s vulnerability to disruptions. Once the works carried out by the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency are completed, there will be four tracks between Kerava and Riihimäki.
