On Monday 14 August, tram routes will switch to winter timetables with more frequent service. Tram 10 will resume its normal route and run to Pikku Huopalahti and replacement bus 10X stops operating. At the same time, tram 3 will return to serving its normal terminus on Kuusitie.

Tram 2 will resume its normal route to Ilmala. In downtown Helsinki, the tram will run via Kamppi Metro Station and the Central Railway Station until further notice.

Night tram 9N will begin operating and partially replace bus route 23N, whose route will be shortened. When trams 9 and 9N operate together on weekends, they will provide passengers with tram services almost round the clock along their route.

You can find more information on the changes on this page. In addition, the new routes are also available in the Journey Planner (search date after 14 August). The next changes to the timetables and routes of tram services will take place in early October, when tram routes are no longer diverted in Pasila.

Changes by route

Tram 2 to Ilmala and Kamppi

Tram 2 will resume its previous route to Ilmala. Until further notice, the terminus in West Pasila will not be served by any tram.

Additionally, the route of tram 2 will change in Kamppi. The tram will run via Fredrikinkatu (Kamppi Metro Station), Simonkatu and the Central Railway Station. The tram will no longer serve the stops “Luonnontieteellinen museo”, “Lasipalatsi” and “Ylioppilastalo”. The purpose of the change is to ensure smoother traffic flow for trams until autumn 2024, at which point the first phase of the Mannerheimintie renovation project will come to an end. We will monitor the number of passengers on the new section of route as well as read the feedback we receive from customers. If passengers give positive feedback on the arrangement, it is possible that the route change will become permanent.

Trams 3 and 10 to resume their normal routes

The construction work that has been carried out on Korppaanmäentie will come to end, meaning that tram 10 can resume its normal route to Pikku Huopalahti. Replacement bus 10X will no longer operate. Tram 3 will again be able to serve its regular terminus on Kuusitie. The terminus at the Meilahti Hospital will be closed temporarily until tram 7 starts serving it in October.

Night tram 9N to begin operating

The first night tram will begin operating. Tram 9N will run on Saturday and Sunday nights approximately between 1.30am and 5am. The tram will run every 20 minutes.

The route from Jätkäsaari to Linjat is otherwise similar to the current route of tram 9 but, in Jätkäsaari, tram 9N will run from Välimerenkatu via Atlantinkatu and West Terminal T2 (terminus) to Tyynenmerenkatu, after which it will head back in the direction of downtown Helsinki. When trams 9 and 9N operate together on weekends, they will provide passengers with tram services almost round the clock along their route.

Once tram routes are no longer diverted in Pasila, the terminus of tram 9N will move to Ilmala. At some point in the future, the tram will start serving a new terminus on Tahitinkatu in Jätkäsaari.

Later on, tram route 9N will replace bus route 23N. During August–September, night bus 23N will continue to run between the Central Railway Station and Ilmala. The bus will stop operating in October, after which trams 9 and 9N can resume their normal routes to Pasila.

Tram routes 7 and 9 (West Terminal):

Every day throughout the summer, trams 7 and 9 have provided passengers with additional services to the West Terminal. The trams will continue to provide additional services during August–September from Friday to Sunday. The additional services will operate according to the passenger ferry operating hours. The purpose of the additional services is to reduce crowding on trams during peak hours caused by ferry arrivals and departures. There will also be more room on the trams for the residents in the area.
