The Suomenlinna ferry will operate from the Katajanokka service pier from the morning of 13 July until 10pm because the Market Square will be closed. Some city bike stations will also be closed in the city center.

Police has announced that convoys may cause disruptions of up to 40 minutes to traffic in the center of Helsinki. The exact times of disruptions cannot be announced in advance. Convoy affects traffic on Thursday evening 13 July

There are major delays to traffic in the city center and on Hämeentie, Mäkelänkatu and Tuusulanväylä on 13 July from 6pm due to a convoy. Police closes the southbound lanes as the convoy proceeds.

Buses than run along Tuusulanväylä drive up the Tuusulanväylä ramps and will resume their normal routes once the convoy has passed. Depending on the location of the bus and police instructions, the route is either

  • Tuusulanväylä – Tammiston kauppatie – Vanha Tuusulantie – Yhdyskunnantie, from where the buses will return to Tuusulanväylä once the convoy has passed.
  • Tuusulanväylä – Asesepäntie – Panuntie – Kullervonkatu – Pohjolantie, from where the buses continue to their normal route along Mäkelänkatu once the convoy has passed. From Panuntie, passengers can also continue to Käpylä train station and continue by train to the city center.

During the traffic stoppage, you can either wait on the bus or continue by alternative transport options. Buses will continue their journeys as soon as the lanes are reopened.

The traffic stoppage affects bus routes 600, 611/B, 614, 617, 623, 633 and 643/K the most but also routes running along crossing roads e.g. routes 500, 510, 550, 560 and 570.

Changes to tram services on 13 July

There will be major delays to all tram routes on Thursday. Traffic stoppages will also affect tram services.

Especially those travelling to the ferry terminals in Jätkäsaari and Katajanokka and to the Olympia Terminal are advised to allow an extra hour for their journeys because delays are expected to tram services. The delays may be lengthy.

Trams 4 and 5 will operate a reduced service on Alekserinkatu and in Katajanokka from 11am to 6pm on Thursday 13 July.

  • On tram route 4, about every other tram from the direction of Munkkiniemi will run from Mannerheimintie to Kolmikulma. In other words, Aleksanterinkatu and Katajanokka will not be served. Correspondingly, about every other tram to Munkkiniemi will depart from Kolmikulma instead of Katajanokka.
  • Tram 5 will also operate a reduced service. The tram will run from Kolmikulma via the Central Railway Station and Aleksanterinkatu to the Katajanokka terminal.
  • In addition, the “Ritarihuone” (H0407 for trams in the direction of Katajanokka) stop will be closed between 9am and 6pm.
