A Sunday service will operate on Christmas Eve and on Christmas Day. On Christmas Day, services will run from about 11am with a few exceptions. On New Year’s Eve, a Friday service will operate and on New Year’s Day, a Sunday service will operate. On the eve of Epiphany 5 January, a Friday service will operate and on Epiphany 6 January, a Sunday service will operate. Some routes will not operate during the school Christmas break. Service changes in detail
During the school Christmas break 22 December to 7 January and 23 December to 7 January, some bus routes will not operate or will operate to special timetables.
22 December 2021 to 7 January 2022
- Routes 588, 982, 984, 989, 992, 993, 994 and 996 will not operate
- On routes 986 and 987, services marked in the timetables with a plus (+) will not operate
23 December 2021 to 7 January 2022
- Routes 79B, 839, 901, 902, 903, 906, 909, 912 and 914 will not operate
- Routes 348, 349, 913, 915, 916 and 917 will operate to school holiday timetables
- U line bus routes 193VA and 193VB will not operate
- On route U280, services marked in the timetables with a plus (+) will not operate
On 23 December, a normal weekday service will operate.
On Christmas Eve, a Sunday service will operate
- Commuter trains to Riihimäki and Lahti (R and Z trains) will operate a reduced service from 4pm.
- Trams will operate a reduced service from 4pm.
- Bus routes 171, 173/K/N and 182A (in Kirkkonummi and Siuntio) will operate until about 4pm.
- On route 24, services will run under route number 24S directly along Mechelininkatu, Hietaniemi will not be served. Bus route 24X will serve the Hietaniemi cemetery. The bus will run from Asema-aukio to Hietaniemi.
- U line buses will mainly operate a Saturday service until 1pm, after which only some services will be running.
Additional services to Hietaniemi cemetery on Christmas Eve, 24 December
Bus route 24X will run from Asema-aukio to Hietaniemi. Departures every 15 minutes from Asema-aukio (“Postitalo”, H2038) between 9.40am and 5.10pm and from Hietaniemi (“Hietaniemi” H1269) between 10am and 5.30pm. The bus will operate a one-way loop serving Hietaniemi clockwise.
Bus 24 will run under route number 24S directly along Mechelininkatu. The bus will not serve Hietaniemi and the following stops: “Väinämöisenkatu” (H1266), “Hietaniemi” (H1270), “Hietakannaksentie” (H1259) and “Taivallahti” (H1282). Bus 24S will serve the stops of route 25.

On Christmas Day 25 December, a Sunday service will operate approximately from 11am
- Commuter trains will operate a reduced service until approximately 11am, after which a Sunday service will operate.
- The Metro will operate a Sunday service approximately from 10.30am.
- Trams will operate a reduced Sunday service from about 11am.
- Bus routes will operate a Sunday service from 10.30am.
- In Kirkkonummi and Siuntio, bus routes 171, 173/K/N and 182A will not run.
- U line buses will operate a reduced service.

On New Year's Eve 31 December, a Friday service will operate
The Metro as well as I and P trains will run about two hours later than usual. Commuter trains will have additional services.
The last Metro services on New Year’s night:
- M1: From Matinkylä to Vuosaari at 1.19am (Tapiola 1.24am, Central Railway Station 1.39am, Itäkeskus 1.54am). From Vuosaari to Matinkylä at 1.05am
- M2: From Tapiola to Mellunmäki at 1.32am (Central Railway Station 1.47am, Itäkeskus 2.01am). From Mellunmäki to Matinkylä at 1.12am (Itäkeskus 1.47am, Central Railway Station 1.33am, Tapiola 1.47am)
The following additional commuter train services will operate on New Year’s night:
- L trains from Helsinki at 0.33am, 1.33am, 2.33am, 5.03am and from Kirkkonummi at 0.57am, 1.27am, 2.27am, 2.57am, 3.27am, 3.57am.
- P trains at 1.48am, 2.18am, 2.48am, 3.18am
- I trains at 0.36am, 1.06am, 1.36am, 2.06am
- K trains from Helsinki at 2.21am, 3.21am and from Kerava at 3.04am and 4.04am.
On New Year’s Day, 1 January, a Sunday service will operate
- Night services will also operate on Saturday night.
- Changes to U line bus services are possible.
- Tram 5 will operate according to the passenger ferry operating hours.
On the eve of Epiphany, Wednesday 5 January, a Friday service will operate
- Night services will also operate on Wednesday night.
- However, in Siuntio, neighborhood routes will operate a Wednesday service.
- Changes to U line bus services are possible.
- Tram 5 will operate according to the passenger ferry operating hours.
On Epiphany, Thursday 6 January, A Sunday service will operate
- Changes to U line bus services are possible.
