Planning a boat trip to Helsinki archipelago? Information on ferry services now available in the Journey Planner

In addition to HSL’s own ferries, information on the ferries to the outer islands of Helsinki is now available in the Journey Planner. You can check the timetables and departure piers for all the islands which have regular water traffic. Ferry rides to and from Helsinki’s outlying network of islands will begin at the beginning of May. Services to and from the islands in the Espoo archipelago will begin approximately one month later.

In addition to information on HSL’s ferries to Suomenlinna and Kruunuvuorenranta, travellers heading out to Helsinki’s island destinations can now easily find information on the routes and timetables for the ferries operating for instance to Pihlajasaari, Vallisaari and Korkeasaari.

Combining public transport with the ferries that operate to the islands off Helsinki is a great way to get to know the local nature. It will also help you plan your summer outings. The ferry operators update information in the Journey Planner themselves, meaning that the information is always up to date.

HSL tickets are valid on the Suomenlinna and Kruunuvuorenranta ferries. If you wish to visit any of the other islands, you’ll need to buy a ticket from the archipelago routes’ ferry operators. Suomenlinna is located in zone A, which means that AB, ABC and ABCD tickets are accepted on the ferry. Please note that HSL tickets are not accepted on the ferries operating to any of the other islands.

We recommend that you visit the websites of the ferry operators to get detailed information on the tickets available.
