For corporate customers: multi-user HSL cards will be discontinued

The use of multi-user HSL cards will end. In the future, matters pertaining to employees’ work-related travelling can be managed online and in the HSL app. Below you’ll find information on the HSL Business Portal and the different alternatives to the multi-user HSL card.

Use up any value you might have left on your multi-user HSL cards and then dispose of the cards with mixed waste.

Start using the HSL Business Portal and provide your employees with tickets that they can use directly in the HSL app. The HSL Business Portal is a simple online service that companies and communities can use to order, issue and manage their personnel’s commuter benefits and tickets for journeys they make during the workday. Employees can use the tickets and benefits they have been issued with via the portal in the HSL app without any delay.

There are many simple alternatives that you can use instead of the multi-user HSL cards:

If the multi-user HSL cards have been used to pay for journeys made during the workday

Employers can use the HSL Business Portal to freely select an amount of budget that they wish to issue to their employees. The employees can then use the budget they’ve been issued with to purchase tickets in the HSL app whenever they want.

Employers can also use the HSL Business Portal to order single-use ticket codes that the recipients, i.e. the employees, can use to redeem single or day tickets in the HSL app. In addition, we are currently developing other alternatives that will be made available later. These alternatives include, for instance, tickets equipped with a QR code that can be ordered via the HSL Business Portal. The tickets can be used either on a phone or in paper form.

If the multi-user HSL cards have been used for company outings

Employers can order ticket codes from the HSL Business Portal that allow the recipients, i.e. the employees, to redeem single or day tickets via the HSL app. In addition, we are currently developing other alternatives that will be made available later. These alternatives include, for instance, tickets equipped with a QR code that can be ordered via the HSL Business Portal. The tickets can be used either on a phone or in paper form.

If the multi-user HSL cards have been used for employees’ commuter benefits (non-resident season tickets)

In the future, employers can use the HSL Business Portal to issue commuter benefits to their employees. The employees can use the commuter benefits they have been issued with in the HSL app. The commuter benefit can be issued either as an auto-renewing season ticket or as a flexible mobility budget. An auto-renewing season ticket is a 30-day season ticket that is renewed automatically. With the flexible mobility budget, on the other hand, the employer can issue an amount of their choosing to their employees who can then use it to purchase the tickets they need via the HSL app.

If an employee has had a non-resident season ticket as a commuter benefit on a multi-user HSL card, they will be able to continue using the ticket in the HSL app. Employers can issue these commuter benefits via the HSL Business Portal. A non-resident season ticket is a season ticket intended for those living outside the HSL area.

How do I know if our company uses multi-user HSL cards?

All HSL cards used by companies are multi-user cards. The cards are either unregistered cards or cards registered under the company’s business ID. You can also use our search function to check whether the card you have is a multi-user card. You can also check the card type by using a ticket machine or checking the receipt the machine prints out for you. Our corporate customer service can also check the cards of our corporate customers on the basis of their HSL card number. If you want to check the remaining value on your card, use a card reader or a ticket machine or visit the HSL service point.

What is the reason for discontinuing the multi-user HSL cards?

HSL is in the process of implementing a new background system for public transport tickets. The new system entails a more straightforward ticket range which will no longer feature separate multi-user and personal HSL cards. Instead, every customer will have a personal HSL account.

Once the new system is in use, multi-user HSL cards can no longer be used. We will inform our customers of the exact date when the multi-user cards stop working at least two months in advance. However, we recommend that companies start using the HSL Business Portal as soon as possible. The portal is a simple tool for issuing and ordering benefits and tickets for employees via the HSL app.
