So that no one should need to wish they were invisible

Everyone has the right to visibly be themselves. No one should have to experience or witness harassment, discrimination or racism. Public transport must be safe for all. Let’s make every journey a respectful one. If you see harassment, don’t look away. Act, support, report. Public transport is for everyone.

What should I do if I see harassment, discrimination or racism?

If you witness harassment, discrimination, or racism toward someone, act, support, and report it. Providing support in these situations doesn’t always require grand gestures. Even small actions and interactions can create a sense of safety.

Act
Become visible. Show the person being harassed that they are not alone. Even a small gesture can make a difference: sit or stand beside the victim, speak to them, make eye contact.

Support
Check if the person who experienced harassment, discrimination or racism still needs help, even if the situation is over. Ensure they can continue their journey safely.

Report
Report the incident to the driver, security guard, or police. The issue must be brought to light in order to put an end to it.

How to report?

  • On the Metro and trams, you can reach security guards by calling the security control room on +358 9 510 47 000.
  • On trains, call +358 50 443 3358. Tell what happened, in which direction the vehicle is heading and the carriage number. Follow the instructions given.
  • On buses, report the incident to the driver.
  • If ticket inspectors happen to be present, inform them of the incident.

Action, not only words

We have committed to participating in the “Action, not only words” campaign launched by the Finnish Prime Minister’s Office.

We train our staff to recognize racism and harassment and to act when they witness harassment.

Our campaign against harassment, discrimination, and racism is one of our actions to address the issue. We want to provide a safe and harassment-free space for both public transport passengers and staff.
