At the same time, we will harmonize our ticketing system across different zones. When the new zone is introduced, passengers traveling in zone D will need to buy tickets for at least two zones (i.e. a DE or CD ticket).
We are implementing this change so that ticket prices for those traveling from Järvenpää, which is not part of the HSL area, would not be disproportionately low compared to the fares for those traveling within the HSL area. Although Järvenpää is not part of the HSL area, its residents have been able to use HSL's single ticket products subsidized by HSL member municipalities.
The new zone E will include the northern parts of Tuusula and Sipoo, which are part of the HSL area. In Tuusula, Kellokoski and Jokela will be shifted to zone E. In addition, tickets for zone E can be used on commuter trains and HSL buses in Järvenpää. Zone E will cover the Jokela, Ainola, Järvenpää, Saunakallio, and Haarajoki commuter train stations.
Zone E will be introduced during 2025, but not at the start of the year. In addition, new zone combinations ABCDE, BCDE, CDE, and DE will be established. The specific zone boundaries within Tuusula and Sipoo will be determined before introducing the new zone.
